The Visual Effects degree caters to individuals fascinated by the creation of awe-inspiring VFX, evident in the latest Hollywood blockbusters, televisual epics, and creatively impactful TV advertisements. The United Kingdom, renowned for its skilled filmmakers, now hosts some of the world’s largest visual effects studios.
Leveraging cutting-edge technology, our Visual Effects degree course delves into the seamless integration of photorealistic computer-generated entities, environments, assets, and people. Your curriculum will encompass crucial aspects of visual effects, ranging from Rotoscoping and Keying to Tracking, Matchmoving, and color correction. Advanced studies will further refine your expertise, covering digital set creation and destruction, matte painting, digital character creation, and the dynamics of fluid, cloth, and particles.

Katie Bates: worked as a freelancer for Disney locally at Space Film & TV before moving to London to work at Blue-Zoo Animation Studios. Following this, Katie moved to The Mill and has worked in both their London and New York studios.
Jakub Malicek: A skilled 3D Artist & Digital, Jakub stunning Tesla 3D model can be seen as part of our BA (Hons) Visual Effects Showreels.
Jack Lynch: an innovative compositor at Chief in Manchester. Jack introduced the studio to Nuke compositing software and as a result has change their pipeline. With support from Jack Chief now delivers an industry brief to our first year’s student, this ensures our students have an early introduction to the industry requirements and workflow.
Louie Crick: We cannot help but share many examples of Louie’s stunning work which he created while studying and created in his spare time. With the quality of his work and dedication, it is no surprise that Louie was snapped up by the amazing Realtime where he works as a 3D generalist.

Marc Rouse: Since graduating, Marc started his journey as an inspiring Matte Painter at DNEG before moving to Framestore. Marc now works as a freelance Matte Painter at SSVFX.
James Naughton: James studied on the BA (Hons) Visual Effects course and wanted to use the skills he developed in his time at Futureworks to pursue a career in the Games industry. James works as an Environment Artist at Futurelab.
Chris Francis: A recent graduate, Chris’s dedication to his craft and the quality of his Unreal Engine work has resulted in him landing his first job at Space Film & TV. You can see more of his work as part of our showreels.

Miguel Diaz: One of the most dedicated students to enrol of the BA (Hons) Visual Effect Programme; there wasn’t a time that Miguel wasn’t working on multiple projects while also inspiring his fellow students and tutors. We are proud to share the outstanding 3D art and Compositing of BA (Hons) Visual Effects graduate Louie Crick, who is working at Realtime in Manchester as a 3D Generalist.
Arran Baldwin, on Visual Effects year 3: “reusing the assets the general idea from collage honours Project, I made 3D scene of my room at home in unreal engine 5. running in VR, it’s accurate down to the millimetre. most of the work went in to making a effective workflow for photogrammetry, I made a few custom tools for cleaning up the 3D scans.”
